Since all of our work is truly one of a kind we do not have any pre-built stairs or price lists. Email,
mail, or fax photocopies of 1st and 2nd floor areas showing all balconies for a specific project and we will prepare an estimate
for your consideration.
Design: We meticulously design and engineer each staircase
to meet your discerning tastes and needs. We provide detailed working drawings for every project using Auto/Cad. Due to the
level of custom work we do, we often have to do extensive redesign to meet code and to create a comfortable stair. Many times
a stair that appears suitable in plan view will have major design defects when it is out in elevation. We can assist a client
with this phase of the project long before any construction actually begins when a change is easy to accomplish. Prior to
beginning any job we do careful field measurements and then lay out the stair full size on our shop floor for accurate fabrication.
Over the years, we have compiled an extensive library of handrail profiles, baluster designs and photos of completed projects
that can be of assistance to a client during the design process.
Engineering: We have coordinated the use of many different types
of materials in the staircases we have built. We have had experience with building curved glass handrail systems. We have
also fabricated wood handrails over structural steel in both residential and commercial projects on freestanding staircases.
Many of our jobs entail staircases that have precise geometric shapes such as an ellipse or a helix and not only do we provide
the stair itself, but also the curved structural framing members that will receive the stair.
Fabrication: The vast majority of our
stair and railing systems are constructed in our shop over our computer generated full size layouts. This procedure assures
us that the stair will fit when it is delivered to the job site. Also, a full size floor layout enables us to see construction
or design problems not always clear on a scaled down plan. In general, we build the stair and railing system in its entirety
in our shop and transport the stair to the job site for installation. We endeavor to build the stair and the components as
complete as possible so that on site construction in minimized. Many of our clients like to visit our shop during the fabrication
process and we encourage this if it is convenient.
The materials
we utilize are the best grade of hardwood lumber sold. Because we are a truly custom company, we have used a wide variety
of lumber species for the treads, risers, and stringers. We use very little plywood and seldom use particleboard except as
material for formwork.

Installation:
We have found that stair installation can be the most difficult aspect of the entire project. It is essential that experienced
people actually do the installation, since many of the tasks associated with the installation are technical in nature and
require someone who performs them on a regular basis. This is especially true of the installation of the handrail and balustrade
system.
We generally install what we build. We do not do
final finish of any kind, although we do prime all wood that is to receive a painted finish
